The most asked NASCAR scanning questions.......

Why do you think it is worth upgrading to the the Blue Vanco Headphones?

Is it worth it, yes 100% for sure it is. They are upgraded, with gel padding on the headset, this makes them much easier to wear for a longer period of time. The red ones hear well, but aren't as comfortable. The blue ones allow less noise to come through the headphone, so you hear more! We sell a lot of the red vancos headsets. However the blue headsets are worth the small upgrade fee.

Why do some places seem to push a modification to the volume, and charge for this service?

The entire reason for the volume modification from someplace boils down to this....money. Its another way to pick a few dollars extra from your pocket. These radios have plenty of volume, if they didn't Uniden would not be the world leader for scanners. This modification WILL void your factory warranty. No matter what the claim, don't fall victim to this scam. With Unidens 1 year warranty intact you'll just sleep better!

The BC 72, BC 92, and SC 230, seem to be some of the most popular handhelds made today, why?

The BC72 has 100 channels & BC92 has 200 channels. Other then that these scanners are the same. So we'll first go over the Uniden SC 230 NASCAR scanner, it has the following features that the BC 72 and 92 just don't have. lil-Stubby Racing Antenna great for trackside. Its preprogrammed for all NASCAR Racing, IRL and even organized by track. 2 Ni Cad Batteries are included with this item. Alpha Numeric Display, shows the drivers name on the screen, takes the guess work out. Computer Programmable if you'd like to program via PC. Close Capture Technology - A must, picks up the nearest signals to the scanner. Makes it easy to scan. Race Track Operation - zooms through channels super fast. Why buy the SC230? Well its very easy to get going on this scanner. You don't need years of scanning experience to start the fun. Most don't buy a scanner to become a expert, they buy it to listen. Please keep in mind however the SC230 is not just for scanning races. While its got the NASCAR logo on it, this scanner is more commonly sold to police scanner listeners believe it for not. It bears the NASCAR name, and is the easiest for NASCAR races, but you don't have to use it trackside. But if you do, you just bought the best. Moving on to the BC 92 and 72 these are police scanners, that can be programmed to scan just about everything including NASCAR. They receive just as well at the race, but aren't as fast to program. In our opinion use the SC230 if your going trackside, and maybe a casual user at home. Buy the BC 92 or 72 if your a scanner user and sometimes go trackside!

You sell the Uniden 330T what's with this model?

The 330T currenty is Unidens only scanner that scans from .1 mhz to 1.3 ghz as a handheld! That's from mild to wild! Yes of course gov't banned freqs are not included. The BR 330T is kind of a cross between the SC230 and the older BC 246T. The BR 330T scanner is really great for persons that want a racing type scanner and they enjoy monitoring the police, fire and such. The 330T is again a cross between the SC230 and the BC 246T. Great choice for the intermediate user.

I see scanners that say they have a ALPHA or Alphanumeric Display what are they used for?

A Alphanumeric Display is a pretty nice feature that lets the user to name the channel they have programmed. For example lets say you are listening to the Phoenix Fire Dept, you can name it "PHX Fire" When your scanner stops on this frequency, instead of seeing the frequency your scanner will say, "PHX Fire" Its very handy when your listening to a lot of stations. Another example would be you enjoy listening to your child's school bus on the way home, program in the school bus frequency, and name it "Bus 1" When the bus talks and your scanner picks it up, it will read "Bus 1" Very handy"

Are Police or NASCAR scanners just for listening to those two?

There is a world around you that you can't imagine without a scanner. Airplanes, taxi, buses, businesses, military, airplanes, trains, space craft, ham radio communications, and A LOT more. The limits are endless to what, or whom you listen too.

I really like the NASCAR Bags, can I squeeze in all the items in your bags?

The NASCAR bags are really nice. They are made from very high quality material, and will last you a very long time. They are great to have so you can keep your hands free when moving your scanner equipment about. Plus you'll be the envoy of the race! And maybe you'll get a autograph or two! These bags are also great for police officers, etc, who need a way of carrying their many radio type items.

Do you really stock all items?

Can you really believe a company that says they have every item in stock all the time? Lets face reality, sometimes the best warehouse clerk in the world messes up inventory. Sometimes a sale item will fly off the shelf faster then we thought. Sometimes Uniden or other companies delay shipments for some reason or another. We won't make false promises as some others do. While most items are normally in stock, sometimes they are not. You will be contacted very quickly if your orders not. Its very rare!

How can you have so many items in stock all the time?

The Radio Company has HUGE buying power. Our parent company RadioActive Electronics, has over 5 warehouses it ships from. We have literally millions of dollars worth of inventory in stock at all times. We're not new at this business, we have specialized in communications equipment for over 20 years. We truly are communications specialists, and not just another internet retailer.

You sell a lot of the red headphones why?

Why? BANG FOR THE BUCK! They are quality headphones and they sound great. If the person at the seat next to you race side is screaming their head off, you'll block out their annoying voice and hear the race! A lot of people upgrade to the blue headphones, mainly for comfort.

I ordered something that I'm no satisfied with, what next?

Lets be real for a moment, we don't offer junk. We try our best to get you the best quality items at a fair price. We really don't expect returns on items because the items we sell we stand behind. But for some reason if your not satisfied, call us. A caring customer service rep will be glad to resolve your issue. Places that say they'll gladly take back your items are not always telling the entire truth. They'll be fast to sell you items, but returns are a headache no matter what they say. We sell to many government agencies, and professionals, you can count on us even when your not satisfied. But try to allow us to solve your problem first is possible.

Is that lil Stubby antenna really needed?

The little stubby antenna is wonderful! When your at the track it has a few advantages. First its just plain nice not to have a big antenna on the top of your scanner. Second the little antenna helps block out unwanted signals that may be surrounded by the track. The stubby is perfect for just listening to what you really want to hear. The SC230 already comes with one but the BC72 and 92 do not so pick one up.

Where do I have to be to pick up the race?

If the race is sold out, and you couldn't get a ticket you can pick it up with your full sized antenna while tailgating! No really you need to be trackside to hear a race, but with your large antenna you'll hear it in the parking area. Don't expect to hear more then a mile however! Not because your scanner can't hear that far, race cars broadcast at very low wattage.

Why buy a scanner for a race, what's there to hear?

Race car drivers to start with! Do you need more? Well their pit crew, the guys spotting, pace cars and more. Ever see a TV person broadcasting at the race? Well pick up them, the stadium workers, security, and more! Its a lot more fun with a scanner.

I'm a scanner newbie to I have to be a expert to listen in on the action ?

Lets face it, any hobby can be a challenge. The more you put into it the more fun it is. However most people can read the manual and be scanning in just a little while. There's info on the web, and magazines at your local news stand.

Can you give me an idea of frequency's that races use?

Sure can this should get you scanning in no time......
BUSCH SERIES uses, 450-470 MHz
NEXTEL CUP uses, 450-470 MHz
CART/IRL uses, 450-470 MHz, and also they use 850-869 MHz
CRAFTSMEN TRUCK uses, 450-470 MHz
Most scanners can pick up any of these frequencies. But best bet if your hardcore race fan, buy a SC230.

I've got more then one race fan in the family do we need to buy more then one scanner?

While we'd like for you to buy as many scanners as you could reality is you only need one. The normal Y adaptor gets two people listening, and they even make them for up to 4 users!

40 cars at the race and 200 channel scanners what gives?

Well the simple fact is you may want to listen to just more then the race. You may want to listen to all the other trackside events. You may want to listen to other series as well. You may want to listen to the entire crew and not just the driver! You may want to listen to things on the way home from the race.

I don't want to miss my driver as he talks what do I do?

Program the favorite under the priority feature on the scanner. When he talks the scanner will go to him right away.
